Insolvency and business restructuring

Robin Tutty, previously head of restructuring at Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP, has joined the firm as a consultant, providing a valuable source of expertise on insolvency law and business restructuring.  Robin recently advised a subsidiary of Morgan Sindall plc on its high-profile acquisition from administrators of assets of the property group Connaught plc, which resulted in excellent publicity for the firm in the legal press.

Litigation

Judgment was handed down on 24 September 2010 in a long-running High Court case involving our aspiring Formula 1 driving client and the defendant Force India, a Formula 1 team. Starr & Partners acted on the successful suit for substantial 7-figure damages for breach of contract. In a 221-page judgment the judge referred to the “many deep and choppy jurisprudential waters” requiring navigation and the case looks set to be on the reading lists of all contract damages students of English law.  Toby Starr appeared alongside leading counsel.
