Layla Bunni

Layla Bunni trained at the London office of the US firm Debevoise & Plimpton and qualified as a solicitor in March 2002. Upon qualification, she joined the employment department of CMS Cameron McKenna. Layla joined Starr & Partners in May 2006, and became a partner and head of the employment team in April 2011.

Layla advises on a wide range of employment issues, both contentious and non-contentious. Her main areas of work include hiring and firing senior executives, handling employee relations issues, carrying out redundancy programmes, and also advising on TUPE matters and the employment aspects of corporate mergers and acquisitions.

Her wide litigation experience includes handling High Court anti-compete injunction applications, and employment tribunal claims relating to, amongst other things, unfair dismissal, whistleblowing and discrimination.

Layla writes a monthly column for a HR/Payroll publication. She is also a regular speaker at conferences and client seminars and provides clients with training on diversity and managing disciplinary and grievance investigations and hearings. She has co-written a chapter on jurisdiction and governing law for the publication “Cross-Border Transfers and Redundancies”.
